Black Friday and Canine Common Sense

I am often saying that humans could use a little more “canine common sense” and today I’m going to give you another example, “Black Friday”.  I cannot understand for the life of me why humans willingly stand in line for hours (sometimes even camping out) and then complain about retailers opening earlier and earlier each year after Thanksgiving.  It makes no sense to me.

For over a week I’ve watched different people complain incessantly on various social networking sites about Walmart and other retailers starting their “Black Friday” deals on Thanksgiving.  Do they not understand that retailers wouldn’t do this if there wasn’t a demand for it?  In their quest to be the one to give the “best gift” at Christmas, consumers have trampled each other, gotten into physical fights and even camped out at stores so they could be first in line.  Did they think stores weren’t paying attention?

A few years ago, a security guard was trampled by a mob at Walmart while trying to help a pregnant woman who had fallen.  The family of the security guard sued Walmart over it.  Now, I ask you, what would you do if you were Walmart management?  You would do the same thing they did.  You’d open your doors earlier and even rope off “lines” for people headed to a specific part of the store.   This has helped with “trampling”, but people will still fight about who was in line first.

My human has only gone out on “Black Friday” once.  That year her friend had a broken leg and was afraid she wouldn’t be able to get her granddaughter a specific doll she wanted.  When my human got home, she told me she would NOT be doing that again.  She was bumped, knocked down and even got hit on the head by a crock pot someone was trying to get down above her head.  It was ridiculous.
Another thing that has begun to irritate me is the people who claim that one or the other side of the political spectrum is to blame.  It isn’t!  Consumers (YOU) are to blame for this.  Conservative or liberal, Republican or Democrat, it doesn’t matter.  Everyone seems to be in on the need to outdo everyone else with their Christmas gift.  And just for the occupiers, don’t even try to talk about greed to me!  I saw you occupiers with your Ipads and Iphones when you were camping out illegally in public parks!  Your argument about the “rich being greedy” won’t wash with me when you yourselves show the same greed and selfishness!

Grow up people!  It’s time that you exercise a little canine common sense, remember what the holidays are truly about and stop whining and/or complaining about retailers chasing the almighty dollar when they are doing nothing more than responding to your greed and pettiness.  If you want to see retailers close on Thanksgiving, STOP camping out and/or standing in line.  STOP trying to outdo everyone else and teach your children the true meaning of the holidays instead! I guarantee you’ll be happier for it in the long run.

They're Hungry Mr. "Blooming Idiot"

Canine common sense is what Mayor Bloomberg needs!  Can you believe that he is banning outside food donations to those hit hardest by hurricane Sandy because they can’t properly assess what the nutritional content is?  Who cares?  People are starving Mr. Bloomberg!  What part of that do you NOT understand?

Folks, this is getting ridiculous.  When will the people of NYC wake up and realize that they have elected a FIRST CLASS IDIOT to run their city?  Do they really NEED one man telling them what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat?  NO!!!

When you vote for liberals, you vote for someone to tell you what to do and how to do it every hour of every day.  The people of NYC are now suffering because they were too lazy to figure out how to live on their own without someone else. How can anyone possibly think it’s a good idea to give someone else total control like that?

Let me make this as clear as I possibly can.  If my human, Patton and myself lived in NYC, I can guarantee that Patton and I would be finding a way to escape our human’s gaze and we would be hunting this man down and biting him in every possible place we could for starving our human!  Mr. “Blooming Idiot” let the food in and show a little canine common sense!

Canine Common Sense Comes To GA

After a while of not being able to post any blogs, I am back!  My human has been so busy and traveling that we just haven’t been able to post much.  Hopefully, that’s over with for the time being.

As the three of us watched election returns coming in Tuesday night I began to think that the humans in our state have begun to develop some “canine common sense”.  Two amendments to the state constitution were on the ballot and both passed with margins that left no room for doubt regarding the majority.  Patton was pleased Amendment one passed and I was pleased with the second.  Actually we were both pleased that they both passed, but we each had a favorite issue.  Isn’t that how it usually goes?

Anyway, Amendment Two to the state constitution dealt with allowing the state to enter into multi-year lease agreements with private sector companies.  This made so much sense to me that I couldn’t understand why anyone would think it wasn’t a good idea.  It will save the taxpayers money and, it cuts down on wasted time finding a new place to house various agencies and/or negotiate new agreements every year.

American’s For Prosperity, one of my human’s favorite advocacy groups, supported the measure and worked diligently to inform voters in our state about why it was a good idea.  I have to thank them for their “canine common sense”.  We could use more groups like this!

So, Patton and I are back to blogging now that we have our human’s hands to type for us as we dictate.  And after the election results of Tuesday night, you can bet we’re going to have a lot to say.  We’ll be helping our human keeping elected officials on every level of government accountable and sharing our canine views of the world.  Our work has just begun.  We are NOT defeated!
